Time spent with Mariano was special, he held himself with a self-confidence I’ve rarely seen. Being from the North East of England really doesn’t offer the opportunities to see tailoring in anything beyond an ill-fitted high street suit, and whilst there’s nothing wrong with that at all, Neapolitans, like Mariano, just have something about them they’re; colourful but not brash, individual but not eccentric and never ostentatious.
The line between what someone might see as gaudy or the epitome of style is, to say the least, these guys just seem to know what to avoid, they dance around these faux-pas like a graceful saltarello, it’s magnificent.
